Hitting the Books

Towards the end of last year I made a half-hearted commitment to read more.  I failed at that commitment…for ‘07, that is.  In the wee hours preceding New Year’s, my wife and I committed to read 50 books in ‘08.  This may seem like a small feat to some, but for us it’s an exciting challenge!

I waited to report this new reading challenge to you, my few Constant Readers, until I had a little time under my belt to get going on the challenge.  I mean, the last thing I wanted to do was announce another challenge with nothing to back it up. 

So the Reading Challenge for 2008 has begun and I’m already 6 books into meeting my goals.  Yes, I have finally succumbed to Harry Potter mania.  I received the books for Christmas (in hardback, of course) and have ceaselessly consumed the adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione.  My goal was to finish the series by the end of January, which I was on my way to doing until an unfortunate setback yesterday (that being that my car was broken into and the bag with my current Potter volume in it was stolen…jerks), but nonetheless I will hopefully have finished them within the next two weeks or so.

So, yay for reading!  50 books, here I come.
