i want to be on LOST … for real
So, I have this idea. It’s pretty crazy. But aren’t crazy ideas the ones that really have the potential to work?
About a year ago, my friend Mike asked me, as he and I were discussing the status of my acting career, to make some goals. Now, I’m really not good at setting goals. Never have been. That’s probably a bad thing.
Anyway, without thinking too long about it I said, with complete sincerity, “I want to be on LOST.”
Every couple of years one of these types of ideas come up. When I heard a couple of years ago that Bryan Singer was scouting unknowns for his eventual mediocre interpretation of Superman, I wanted to be on the shortlist. Granted, I didn’t know it was going to be as vanilla an offering as it ended up being, I just knew it’d be awesome to be Superman.
If I had been ‘of age’ as an actor when it was on, you bet your bottom dollar I would have trekked up to Vancouver to try and get on The X-Files.
If I’d had the wherewithal to do so, I would have gotten my butt to New Zealand 5 years ago to ensure a place in history as a participant in the Lord of the Rings films.
All that to say, I am now definitely ‘of age’ as an actor. I have representation. I want to be on LOST. With no hyperbole, I believe that show will be looked at 10 years from now as a piece of TV history. As much as I love The X-Files, LOST has proven itself to be a freaking heavyweight of a show. And, dadgummit, I want to be on it. I’ve been toying, quite seriously, with creating an online campaign to try to get myself on the show.
Crazier things have happened right? People talk a lot about dreams and about not giving up on your dreams, but when push comes to shove we’re real bad at making those things happen. Or maybe that’s just me. But here’s an opportunity; the creators of LOST have stated there will be two more seasons after this year. It’s a small window, but it’s a window.
What do you think? Would you rally around the “Help Nathan Get LOST” campaign? Somewhere someone up the food chain would have to see it right?
I think it’s a great idea. Any web-designers out there want to offer their services to set up a site?
Time’s a-wasting. Let’s get LOST.

Go for it!
I hear you, bud. All my life I’ve wanted to puppeteer for Henson’s, even as a background performer in one of the huge group scenes in a show. I doubt it’ll ever happen, however, due to me being stuck in the Outer Hebrides. Someday, though…
I am SO behind you on this!!!
dude! iain, that’s awesome! i’ve actually been seeing online buzz about a new muppets film with jason segel directing based solely on his dracula bit in ‘forgetting sarah marshall’ … you should look into it.
I stand behind you completely. I’ve always wanted you to get lost.
Absolutely, you should do this! I love this show and it would be crazy amazing to see someone I know on it. Does it help to know that Terry O’Quinn resides not too far away from my town when he’s not filming LOST? I can hunt him down and have him pass along some information for the powers that be that cast the show LOL
For some reason, I thought you’d already written about this? Maybe it was a MySpace blog or something. But either way, yeah, that would be pretty awesome.
i believe in you nathan. be creative with your ideas on how to do it. i would help you in any way possible yo.
love,
zach
Why in the world do you care about a Local Option Sales Tax?
Nathan!
Yes and amen. You should most certainly go after this!! My only request…introduce me to Desmond, brotha.
Sounds to me like you’d just like to trade lives with Dominic Monaghan seeing as how he did 2 of the 4 things you mentioned.
